EMN Plant Ltd has been named as preferred contractor to undertake the Civils works for ‘Section 1’ of the installation of the underground 132kV circuit running from the new Viking substation in Kergord to the new GSP substation in Lerwick. This project will enable the connection of the local power grid to the new Viking windfarm. ‘Section 1’ involves the installation of approximately 57 linear km of underground ducting, around 4.5km of access roads and various other items.
EMN Plant are currently due to commence work on the project on the 5th of July 2023 and the main works are due to run until around September 2024. The shift pattern will be 10 days on and 4 off, working 12 hours per day – 7am to 7pm with slightly reduced hours on the working weekend.
We are currently looking to recruit for the following positions for this project:
- 360° Excavator Operators
Desired candidate must hold a valid CPCS or NPORS qualification.
Experience working in peatland is desired.
- Groundworkers
Desired candidate will hold a valid CSCS card with experience of working in peatland and access road construction/ trench works.
Ride on roller and forward tipping dumper qualifications (CPCS or NPORS) are also desired.
- Gangers
Desired candidate will hold a valid CSCS card with experience of working in peatland and access road construction/ trench works.
Ride on roller and forward tipping dumper qualifications (CPCS or NPORS) are also desired.
- Labourers
Desired candidate will hold a valid CSCS card and hold a valid UK driving licence.
A generous remuneration package is available for all successful candidates and is negotiable dependent on experience. Please note that all positions will involve working outside and our programme of works runs through the Winter period.
Preference will be given to candidates already living in Shetland with suitable qualifications and experience.
